2026 National Conference Train Rolls On

By Matthews Otalike, February 6, 2026

Members of the Committee saddled with the responsibility of ensuring a successful and hitch free conference have taken a visit to the Canaan land, venue of the conference to assess what is on ground and what requires to be put in place before the event scheduled to hold in November 2026.

Led by the National Conference Planning Committee Chairman brother Victor Egemeole, the members took a tour of the entire Canaan Land, assessed the state of available structures and those needing attention before the Conference.

One of the greatest challenges of Canaan Land is the access road from Ubulu Okiti junction which is in a deplorable state. The stretch which is less than 10 kilometres is an earth road which is usually water logged in some parts and muddy in others making access to the Conference venue nearly impossible. Past Conference planning committees and the National Service of Communion of the CCRN had to spend huge sums to rehabilitate the road to make it passable for conference participants. The CCRN’s rehabilitation effort is the only lifeline for the different communities in that stretch to take out their farm produce. There is need to work on the road before the conference.

Other challenges noticed by the NCPC include shortage of water supply caused by the breakdown of two out of the three (3) boreholes serving the National Service Centre; dilapidated pavilions, broken down tractor, and leaking roofs of some of the existing buildings. Part of the decisions reached after the inspection was for another borehole to compliment the only functional one at the moment, connect the borehole to the generator at the Master Is Here Guest House to reduce the cost of pumping water for every day use, procure and install 120 pieces of high grade solar system to be mounted at strategic locations at Canaan Land so as to cut down on spending on fuel during the conference.

Pavilions identified to serve as accommodation which are in dilapidated state at the moment are to be repaired before the time. The broken-down tractor will also be repaired for use. There is also need to roof a toilet facility still under construction to make it ready for use during the conference in November.

The National Conference Planning Committee has also constituted subcommittees with assigned responsibilities to get down to work immediately.
